"The role of the maritime and port sectors in Africa's economic growth"

AFRICA
MARITIME & PORTS EXHIBITION

CAMEROON EDITION
APRIL 2025 | 15-19 IN DOUALA, MAISON DU PARTI DE BONANJO

POC of AFMAPEX Marc MAYO

We believe that the establishment of a Maritime and Port Exhibition dedicated to Africa will enable the further development of its port infrastructures as well as all related professions.

CONTEXT

In the context of very strong demographic growth unique to Africa, the African maritime and port sectors are called upon to play a major role in the development of the continent.

Ports are the main entry and exit points for industrial, agricultural and manufactured products, and they are also transit centers for products from other countries.

AFMAPEX is a five-day business meeting, conferences, exhibitions, thematic workshops, B2B meetings, training, etc. It will bring together more than 100 worldclass speakers specializing
in maritime and port professions.

The event will address current issues and challenges spanning global and regional trade and investment, and will be attended by over 300 senior government officials, industry leaders, academics, port captains, port engineers, maintenance supervisors and procurement decision-makers, as well as major shippers, cargo owners, importers/exporters, shipping
lines, freight forwarders,
logistics companies, ports, terminal operating companies, railway operators, port
equipment and service providers from Africa and other continents.

INTEREST AND JUSTIFICATION

AFMAPEX is opening up to become the show that will boost maritime and port development in Africa but also in all sectors that revolve around them. We increasingly need ports with international standards in order to meet the ever-increasing flow of global trade. Thus, the processing times for imports and exports will be optimized.

AFMAPEX

GOALS

In addition to promoting Africa’s maritime and port potential, AFMAPEX aims to:

To support policies in the area of maritime and port development.

To promote visibility and development of maritime and port in Africa.

To encourage national and international investments in these sectors.

o facilitate meetings and business opportunities for players in the relevant sectors.

WHY DEVELOP
THE MARITIME SECTOR?

Maritime development is crucial in Africa for several reasons:

It stimulates continental trade through maritime routes, allowing the import and export of goods.

The maritime sector creates many jobs, both in shipbuilding and in logistics and transport.

It provides access to marine resources, such as fish and underwater minerals, which are essential for many economies.

Marine activities, such as
cruising and diving, enhance tourism and generate revenue.

Maritime development can include sustainable practices, such as marine renewable energy, contributing to the energy transition.

Effective maritime management
improves the security of waters and coasts, thereby protecting national interests.

In short, thoughtful maritime development promotes economic growth while preserving the environment.

In short, port development is essential to support economic growth, improve infrastructure and ensure sustainability.
